What Employers and Employees Are Seeking - Episode 31

If you’ve ever been turned down for a job, a job promotion, a raise, or even an interview, it leaves you asking yourself, “What could I have said or done differently to have changed the outcome?” And you think to yourself, “If I could just see inside of that interviewer’s head and find out what they were thinking or what they were looking for, I know without a shadow of a doubt that I would have been worthy of what I was seeking.”

Conversely if you run your own business or you manage a crew, you know and can appreciate the value of good help. In fact everyone in those kinds of positions will say, “Good help is hard to find.” And you may not know what it takes to gain or retain good employees. I once heard someone in business say “I’ve trained half of my competition.” This is often a real thing that bosses contend with because after they’ve invested their time and resources in training someone from the ground up, they leave to pursue other career interests. Loyalty is very important in an industry where loyalty doesn’t seem to mean a whole lot on either end.

How do we match up good help with good jobs? We’ll discuss this and more on our next podcast.
