About the video
This lesson provides an overview of electric vehicle (EV) batteries and charging, highlighting the distinctions between hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. You’ll learn how hybrid vehicles combine internal combustion engines with electric motors, whereas battery electric vehicles rely solely on external electrical sources for recharging. The video explains the evolution of battery capacities, the differences between AC and DC charging, and the levels of charging power, including the specific voltages and currents for each level. Additionally, it covers the types of charging plugs and connectors, such as J1772, CCS, and CHAdeMO, and the importance of matching the vehicle’s capabilities with the appropriate charger. By understanding these factors, you can make informed decisions about EV ownership and charging infrastructure. To get started, go to the Lesson Content tab and click on the video.
