About the video

This lesson covers the fundamental electrical blueprint symbols that apprentices need to understand for reading and interpreting plans. You’ll learn about various symbols for receptacles, including duplex, GFCI, and 240-volt plugs, as well as the symbols for different types of switches like single pole, three-way, and dimmer switches. The video also explains lighting symbols, including recessed cans, track lights, and chandeliers, and miscellaneous symbols such as smoke detectors and junction boxes. By mastering these symbols, you’ll be equipped to wire and troubleshoot most electrical installations accurately. To get started, go to the Lesson Content tab and click on the video.

About the quiz

Each lesson contains a video, and is followed up with a simple quiz. Quizzes review information discussed within the video, with each question providing an answer justification.
