About the video
This lesson explains the fundamentals of variable frequency drives (VFDs), devices that control the speed of industrial motors by adjusting the frequency of the power supply. You’ll learn about the components of a VFD, including the converter, DC bus, and inverter sections, and how they convert AC power to DC and back to adjustable AC. The video demonstrates how VFDs enable precise motor speed control, crucial for applications like fans, pumps, and conveyors. Additionally, the lesson covers the differences between variable torque and constant torque loads, highlighting the significant energy savings achievable with variable torque applications. By understanding VFDs, you gain insight into their role in enhancing motor performance and efficiency in industrial settings. To get started, go to the Lesson Content tab and click on the video.
About the quiz
Each lesson contains a video, and is followed up with a simple quiz. Quizzes review information discussed within the video, with each question providing an answer justification. Helping to reinforce correct answers and helps clarify any mistakes through code citations, excerpts, and explanations, so you can better understand the material.
