Episode 11 – SCHEMATICS – How 3-way and 4-way Switches Work

This episode goes further in depth on how 3-way and 4-way switches work.  This is for those visual learners out there that need the logic drawn out so they can see the whole circuit in front of them.

This ties in really well with the other 3-way and 4 way videos I’ve done. I still talk about the difference between the hot and leg side in a 3way and 4way.  I talk about how the travelers must be run, as well as how the insides of the devices work, and how current will flow through the switches.. If you’d like a more in-depth look at what the inside of these devices looks like, and how they physically function watch this episode where I crack them open and look inside:

What’s Inside 3-way and 4-way Switches

To See how this looks in real life watch these episodes where I show how to wire both 3-way and 4-way systems:

This is the best way i have ever been explained the method of using 3-way, and 4-way switches. The different possible use has always been confusing, but you nailed it with your style of teaching for me. Thank you! I have just recently found your content online, and has been a great help to push me further in my electrical apprenticeship.

Great to hear my friend! It helps sometimes to have a visual reference to understand this stuff.
