This would have come in handy so many times in the past. A socket set that extracts damaged fasteners and doesn’t allow stripped bolts and nuts to get lodged and stuck in the socket.
First Impression
To start out, I love black sockets and ratchet sets. I know that has nothing to do with the quality of the tool, but for real…I love matte black tools, so right away I’m more interested in this set. Ok, now for what it actually does…
Functionality
The tolerances on these sockets are a lot more forgiving than a standard socket. Most sockets have difficulty. with fitting over a painted, corroded, or stripped bolt/nut. So getting them busted loose can be nearly impossible from time to time, especially in remodels where these old fasteners have been around for a half a century.
The operate just like any other socket really, just the pattern in how they’re made makes it easier to break loose these old dinosaur bolts and nuts. The kit could possibly be a little more comprehensive with its sizes, but for most of what an electrician deals with, we’re going to come across every one of these sizes often. (1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 7/16” and 1/2”)
